Athletics in Canada Day -Edmonton

Introducing “Athletics in Canada Day”, a groundbreaking series of events set to debut nationwide in June 2024, celebrating the sport of Athletics which includes track and field, para athletics, cross country, and road, mountain, & trail running. Designed to promote inclusivity and community engagement, these events target underrepresented populations, particularly newcomers to Canada and athletes with disabilities, while welcoming participation from all walks of life.

Spanning the breadth of Canada, these festivities will spotlight the diverse opportunities and interests within the sport of athletics. Whether it’s sprinting down the track, conquering rugged trails, or competing in para athletic events, there’s a thrilling experience awaiting every participant. In Edmonton, Athletics in Canada Day will be celebrated with several hundred students from both Edmonton Public and Edmonton Catholic School Boards. Following a morning of Mini Legends Program Mobile Stadium and Games, (AKA, the Mini Olympics!) these students will be invited to attend the Edmonton Athletics Invitational to see Olympians, World Champions, and high performance athletes from around the world compete! From trying track and field themselves to watching the professionals, these students will reap the benefits of Athletics in Canada Day!
